Ngounso Baptist Health Center
The health centre was approved in 1997 by the Minister of Public Health. It is one of the fastest growing rural health centres of the CBC Health Services in terms of personnel, infrastructure and services. The centre sees an average of 30 patients per day and an average of 1,000 patients per month. It operates on a two-shift system; 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 9 p.m with a screener on call.
The staff strength in 2014 stood at 49 (including two screeners and three casual workers) up from 16 staff in 2004. Patients seen at Ngounso Baptist Health Centre come from Malantueen, Njimom, Magba, Barage and Ngounso itself.
Outpatient Services: These include general consultation with malaria, intestinal problems, STDs, hypertension and diabetes as the common illnesses; Family Planning, treatment room where minor surgeries like circumcision and suturing are done, laboratory that does tests like malaria, diabetes, syphilis, hemoglobin, HIV among others, pharmacy that dispenses drugs to patients, maternal child health services like antenatal clinic (ANC), labour and delivery (an average of 30 deliveries conducted per month), and prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) of HIV, nutrition counseling services, chaplaincy which offers spiritual support to staff, patients and caregivers, security services, canteen/provision store, emergency evacuation of patients using the health centre ambulance at a minimal cost.
Inpatient Services: The health centre does admissions into four different wards namely; Children’s Ward, Women’s Ward, Men’s Ward and Private Ward all having a total of 30 beds. An ultra-modern maternity ward with 20 beds was inaugurated and put into use in 2012.
Location: The health centre if found in Magba Subdivision, in Noun Division of the Western Region of Cameroon. It is situated 60km north of Foumban town along the road to Banyo. It is in the Malantueen Health District.
