Nyamboya Baptist Health Center
The health centre started as a primary health centre (PHC) in the 1990’s under that the supervision of the Life Abundant Primary healthcare programme (LAP). It was later upgraded into an integrated health centre and placed under the supervision of the CBC Health Services through Banso Baptist Hospital (BBH). The health centre has been serving as a pilot centre for the treatment of Burili Ulcer in partnership with Fair Med. It operates on a three-shift system; 7a.m. to 2 p.m., 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. and 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.
Nyamboya Baptist Health Centre had 16 staff including one screener in 2014. These staff sees an average of 12 patients in a day and 400 in a month. Patients seen at the health centre come from all over Bankim Subdivision which is inhabited predominantly by the Fulbe, Yamba and Tikar people.
Outpatient Services: These include registration/payment, general consultation with malaria, respiratory tract infections, gastritis, hypertension, and STDs as the leading diseases; maternal child health (MCH) services like antenatal clinic (ANC), labour and deliveries (an average of 14 deliveries conducted every month), infant welfare clinic, laboratory services, pharmacy services, treatment services (minor surgeries like suturing and circumcision are done), family planning, security services and outreach for vaccination and health education.
Inpatient Services: Very sick clients are admitted in the health centre. There are 29 hospital beds spread out in four wards namely; Children’s Ward, Women’s Ward, Men’s Ward and Maternity Ward.
